Where to Find Murals and Street Art in the Bronx

Being the birthplace of Hip Hop, the Bronx naturally has a long history of graffiti and street art. Some pieces honor local legends, while others celebrate the people, culture, and everyday life that make the Bronx what it is. If you’re looking for something different to explore, here are just a few places to check out Bronx murals and street art spots worth checking out.

Boone Avenue Walls

If you haven’t made your way over to Boone Avenue Walls, put it on your list. This project has grown into a major street art showcase, bringing together graffiti artists to transform walls throughout the Bronx. Founded by Bronx graffiti artist WEN COD, Boone Avenue Walls is now in its twelfth year. The 2026 project brought new artwork to West Farms, Foxhurst, and Mott Haven, with murals by artists from the Bronx and other parts of New York City and beyond.

The September 2026 updates included work by veteran Bronx graffiti artists alongside new collaborations. The artwork ranges from classic graffiti lettering to colorful characters and large-scale pieces that cover entire walls.

Bonx-born rapper Big Pun left a lasting mark on hip-hop, and his mural remains a well-known tribute to the local legend. The mural was created by Tats Cru, the Bronx graffiti crew known for its large-scale murals and memorial pieces. The artists were friends with Big Pun, making the work a personal tribute as well as a celebration of Bronx hip-hop history.

The mural is located on Rogers Place near Westchester Avenue, close to the Intervale Avenue subway station. The artwork has been updated over the years, including around Big Pun’s birthday.

The Bronx has a new reason to look up. A mural at the Morrisania Air Rights development now holds the distinction of being the tallest mural in the United States. Titled Un MAR de Gente / From Every Shore, the mural was created by Dominican artist Néstor Omar García, known as Angurria. It stretches more than 307 feet up the side of a 29-story building.

What makes this project especially meaningful is that it was created with input from the people who live in the development. Community workshops helped shape the artwork, which celebrates the diversity of the neighborhood and the people who call it home.

In December 2025, residents unveiled a collection of new murals titled The Home That Inspired The World. The artwork was designed by Bronx-born artist Mark Lawrence, who grew up in the development, alongside members of Tats Cru: BG183, Bio, and Nicer.

The murals feature scenes inspired by neighborhood life, including people playing dominoes and basketball and a DJ holding a record and a spray can. The project recognizes the development’s place in the history of hip-hop and the community that helped shape the culture.
