Neighborhoods to Trick-or-Treat

If you’re hoping for a more traditional Halloween, here are a few Bronx neighborhoods that are popular for trick-or-treating.

City Island

City Island is known for its close-knit, small-town atmosphere, making it a fun place to explore during Halloween. The City Island Chamber of Commerce also lists its Halloween parade for Saturday, October 31, at 5:30 p.m., gathering at Hawkins Park.

Morris Park

Morris Park is another neighborhood to consider for a traditional residential Halloween. Its tree-lined streets and single-family homes give families plenty of places to explore on foot. Start around Morris Park Avenue and nearby residential blocks, looking for decorated homes and signs that residents are participating.

Country Club

Country Club is another popular neighborhood where families go to trick-or-treat. There are often neighbors who go all out with outdoor decorations and even haunted house experiences for families.

But what time?

Since Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, the real questions is what time to head out. We recommend spending the afternoon checking out local events before heading out to trick-or-treat. Several Bronx events are scheduled for the daytime and afternoon, including parades and Trick-or-Streets celebrations. If you’re planning to go door to door, around 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. is a reasonable time to start checking your neighborhood, especially with younger kids. As it gets closer to sunset, more families may be out, but it really depends on the neighborhood. Look for decorated homes and porch lights, and if you’re visiting an area like City Island or Morris Park, check with local families to see when residents usually start handing out candy.

Be safe and enjoy!
