Ever wonder what’s inside that old theater, artist studio or historic building you’ve passed a hundred times. Open House New York Weekend is your chance to find out. From October 16–18, 2026, more than 300 destinations across New York City’s five boroughs will open their doors for tours, special programs and behind-the-scenes experiences. The lineup includes theaters, art spaces, recording studios, historic buildings, cultural organizations and places where you can learn more about how the city works.
A few Bronx spots on the list….
Paradise Performing Arts Center
One of the most intriguing new additions to this year’s festival is Paradise Performing Arts Center, the former Loew’s Paradise Theatre on the Grand Concourse. The massive theater was built in 1929 as one of New York City’s five Loew’s Wonder Theatres and is being reimagined as a performing arts center. OHNY is giving visitors a chance to see inside this 4,000-seat Bronx theater during its first year as an OHNY destination.
Bronx Documentary Center
The Bronx Documentary Center in Melrose is opening its doors during OHNY Weekend as a drop-in destination. The nonprofit gallery and educational space focuses on photography, film and documentary arts, making this a nice stop for families with older kids and teens who are interested in photography, storytelling or visual arts. OHNY lists the Bronx Documentary Center for Friday, October 16 from 2–6 p.m. and Saturday, October 17 from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. It’s a free, drop-in destination, so no ticket is required.
BronxArtSpace
Head down to Hunts Point to check out BronxArtSpace, a contemporary art space that is also participating as a free, drop-in OHNY destination.
It’s open Saturday, October 17 from 10 a.m.–6 p.m., making it an easy one to pair with other Hunts Point stops.
Bronxlandia
Another Hunts Point stop is Bronxlandia, the cultural and events space located in a former train station. OHNY has it open for drop-in visits throughout the weekend:
Friday, October 16: 2–6 p.m.
Saturday, October 17: 5–8 p.m.
Sunday, October 18: 2–6 p.m.
La Bodega NY Studios
La Bodega NY Studios is a Bronx recording studio and soundstage with a life-size replica of a New York City street. It’s one of the returning OHNY destinations for 2026 and offers a very different look at the creative work happening in the borough. The studio is at 696 E. 135th Street in the Bronx.
Bronx General Post Office
The Bronx General Post Office is a landmark building known for its 13 New Deal-era murals, painted in 1939. OHNY has highlighted the building as part of its festival programming, giving visitors a chance to see the historic space and artwork before its future transformation into space for CUNY and the community.
