This Instagram Page Dives Into Bronx History & More

Now more than ever there are some awesome Instagram pages highlighting places around the Bronx, but there are also a few that highlight the history for those who are interested. Sarah Eccles shares the history, architecture, food, trails and little-known stories of the Bronx over on her page, @speccles_.

She recently explored Woodlawn, looking at some of the neighborhood’s Irish food and culture, including spots for Irish breakfast. Woodlawn has long been known for its strong Irish identity, with Irish pubs, shops and restaurants concentrated around Katonah and McLean Avenues. In another video, she heads into the woods of Riverdale, highlighting a trail that stretches for nearly three miles.

Another recent video takes viewers inside Cunniffe House, the former administration building at Fordham University, offering a look at the architecture and history of a place many Bronx residents may recognize without knowing much about its past.

If you’re into exploring the borough, discovering its history, finding interesting food spots or simply learning more about the neighborhoods around you, give @speccles_ a follow.
