The application is officially open for Bronx residents to join a Bronx Community Board in 2026. Community Boards are local advisory groups made up of neighborhood volunteers who help shape decisions about land use, public services, quality-of-life issues, budgets, and community priorities. They’re one of the most powerful ways for everyday residents to make their voices heard on issues that affect where they live, work, and play.
The process is open to anyone who:
- Is a resident or has a strong connection to the community they wish to represent
- Is committed to attending monthly board meetings and subcommittee work
- Wants to be an active voice for neighbors
The boards are made up of volunteers who live, work, or have a strong connection to the neighborhood they represent. Bronx Community Boards serve specific geographic districts within the borough, and members help review:
- Land use and zoning proposals
- City budget priorities
- Community concerns like parks, traffic, housing, sanitation, public safety, and more
- Local city agency services
Serving on a Community Board is unpaid, but it’s a meaningful way to get involved, meet neighbors, and help shape decisions that impact everyday life in your community.
