If you haven’t already heard, there’s a vending machine in the Bronx that dispenses free food. The initiative is part of a broader effort to help neighborhoods in need. The machine offers free food items located inside the Kipps Bay Boys and Girls Club located at 625 Castle Hill Avenue, as part of the “Good Food For All” program.
The machine is designed so that people in the community can access food without cost, reducing some of the barriers in food-access deserts and helping people who might otherwise struggle. While it’s not the first free food vending machines, it is the first one open to the public. The machine even includes produce grown in hydroponic systems throughout the city.
