The Bronx Borough President’s Office is now accepting applications for Community Board membership for the 2025 term.
What Are Community Boards?
Community Boards are local representative bodies that play a crucial advisory role in land use, zoning, and city budget processes. They address service delivery and other community concerns, ensuring that neighborhood voices are heard in city government. Each board consists of up to 50 volunteer members who serve staggered two-year terms.
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for appointment, you must be a New York City resident who lives, works, or has a significant interest in the Bronx Community District for which you’re applying. Significant interest includes being an employee or board member of an organization located in the district or being a student attending a school there.
Application Process
- Prepare Your Documents: You’ll need to upload identification (e.g., driver’s license, state ID), proof of address (e.g., utility bill), and a resume or short biography.
- Complete the Application: Fill out the online application form available on the Bronx Borough President’s website.
- Submit by the Deadline: Applications must be submitted by March 9, 2025.
Next Steps
After submitting your application, you’ll receive an automated confirmation email. The Community Board Unit will review applications and may contact you for an interview. Appointments are expected to be announced in late spring.
