New immersive walking trail opens at the Bronx Zoo

By now, you know that the Bronx Zoo is celebrating 125 years. And we’ve highlighted plenty of ways to join in on the celebration. But one new experience takes a moment to stop and really tell the history of the Bronx Zoo- Animal Chronicles. This immersive walking trail features 68 eco-sculptures displayed across 13 scenes telling the zoo’s history of saving animals. So I hope that on your next visit to the Bronx Zoo you take a moment to enjoy these incredible art displays and stories. And the best part, this experience is included FREE with your ticket.

Without giving too much away, here are some things you can expect to see and experience along the trail:

  • 68 stunning animal sculptures created using natural materials, including moss, wood and stones 
  • 13 incredible scenes with immersive photo opps
  • Kids can touch, feel and learn all about the materials used to create the sculptures
  • Get some fresh air and enjoy the beauty of spring 
  • Learn how the zoo became a leader in caring for animals, their role in saving endangered species and designing exhibits that connect people to nature, and how the Bronx Zoo projects wildlife around the world

It is pretty incredible to have such history right in our own backyard. The Bronx Zoo is world-renowned for its leadership in the areas of animal welfare, husbandry, veterinary care, education, science and conservation. And it’s also the largest youth employer in the Bronx- making an impact in more ways than one.

The Bronx Zoo will be celebrating through the rest of the spring and summer with special birthday programming on select weekends and evolving themes each month:

○ May (11, 12, 18, 19) – Celebration of Birds
○ June (8, 9, 15, 16) – Celebration of Congo Gorilla Forest
○ July (13, 14, 20, 21) – Celebration of Big Cats
○ August (10, 11, 17, 18) – Celebration of Asia
○ Labor Day Weekend (8/31, 9/1, 9/2) – Celebration of Africa
