Looking for things to do with kids during spring recess in the Bronx? Here are a few fun free and low-cost ideas to get your itinerary started:

Arbor Weekend at Wave

From April 26-29, head to Wave Hill to celebrate Arbor Weekend with walks, hands-on experiences, kid-friendly activities and more! Kids can even take tree climbing to a new level with a Junior Arborist Station. Learn more.

The Bronx is 125 years this year, and they’ve just kicked off their festivities taking place throughout the rest of the year. Drop your little princess off at Pink Princess Nails

Head to your local park

The Parks Department hosts free events all year long, so be sure to check out what’s happening at your local park this week. On Monday, bring your own clean recyclable food and beverage containers to Crotona Nature Center to make fun art projects, bird houses, planters, and bee boxes. On Tuesday, head to Van Cortlandt Nature Center to learn new skills to help you survive outdoors. On Thursday, head to Williamsbridge Oval Recreation Center for a spring block party where there will be a free shoe giveaway from Vans, music, games, art stations, and more. Spend the day at the Bronx Children’s Museum

If you’ve yet to visit the Bronx Children’s Museum, this is your chance. The museum has 10,000 sq ft. of active exhibit space where families can play, learn, and connect with the wider Bronx and its natural and cultural resources through STEAM-based art, dramatic role-play, and scientific exploration. Grab cheap tickets to a Yankee game

If you’re not picky with the seats, you can grab Yankee tickets for as low as $10 and hit up a game. To really save, bring food and sealed water bottles from home. Jump on the NYC Ferry

The ferry is a great way to travel, but the ride itself can be an adventure. Jump on at either the Ferry Point or Soundview landings and enjoy a ferry ride to Manhattan. Transfer to the Astoria route to spend the afternoon on the waterfront in Queens, or get off in Manhattan to enjoy the day in the city.
