If you haven’t heard, a new nighttime family Halloween event is coming to the Bronx Zoo this fall! We already loved making Boo at the Zoo a part of our fall lineup each year, and now we are excited to check out this new experience that takes place select evenings. We already know this is going to be a fun memory for the whole family. Here’s everything you need to know about Pumpkin Nights at the Bronx Zoo PLUS a special promo code for Bronxmama readers:
Pumpkin Nights at the Bronx Zoo is a half mile, animal-themed jack o’lantern trail complete with more than 5,000 illuminated pumpkins. Kids will learn about animal behavior after dark with these amazing and intricately carved pumpkin displays, complete with atmospheric sounds and colored lights.
Just like the zoo itself, visitors will have the chance to travel around the world via the displays with the following immersive scenes:
- Amazon Rainforest: see larger than life insects and frogs on the forest floor and canopy
- African Savanna: witness rhinos, elephants, giraffe, and more at grassland waterhole
- Ocean: explore the bioluminescent deep-sea, where creatures survive in complete darkness all the time
- Arctic: with polar bears, seals, Arctic fox and more
- The dessert
- New York at Night
- & a pumpkin cave featuring grey headed flying fox that appear to fly above you
Live pumpkin carving
There will also be live pumpkin carving demonstrations and visitors can watch artists create giant animals and intricate scenes out of pumpkins.
Games
Guests will also have the chance to play games with family and friends during their visit to Pumpkin Nights. There will be pumpkin bean bag toss, corn hole, Connect Four © and Jenga.

Feel free to arrive hungry as there will be local food trucks with both dinner and dessert options. Vendors will differ each night, but will include some of the following:
