Summer is flying by as usual, but there is still time to pack the last few weeks of summer with fun things to do. While we love spending lazy days at the beach or splashing around in the pool, we try to plan other adventures throughout the week. If you’ve got dino lovers at home, then a trip to the Dinosaur Safari at the Bronx Zoo should definitely be on your to-do list before summer ends.
Running until October 30, Dinosaur Safari is a walk-through experience with 52 life-sized dinosaurs and pterosaurs. This year’s experience features more animatronic dinosaurs than ever before- giving plenty of fun photo opps along the way.
If you visit before August 28, you’ll have the chance to check out two fun shows at the Wildlife Theater in Astor Court. Enjoy songs, puppets, and a little time travel for Professor Jurassic’s Amazing Dinos three times a day Friday through Sunday. Then, learn about birds at the zoo and their connections to dinosaurs for a fun musical filled show called Bird or Dinosaurio?
From August 20-28, visitors will also have a chance to check out DINOSAURS ROCK® Fossil Adventure Show. This fun and interactive presentation takes place 5 times per day and will have special appearances by a dinosaur expert.
Of course, there is plenty to do aside from seeing dinosaurs at the Bronx Zoo. Take a ride on the Monorail to enjoy views of the Bronx River and spot animals along the way- like elephants and tigers. And be sure to stop by the Children’s Zoo where you can pet and feed sheep, alpacas, and goats.
Dinosaur Safari runs until October 30 and is included in the Bronx Zoo admission ticket and is FREE for Zoos PLUS, Land & Sea, and Conservation-level Members. Tickets must be reserved in advance here.
