People from all over the world visit the Bronx Zoo, but we are lucky enough to have it right in our backyard. On any given day we can stop in to see our favorite animals, get a workout in, or plan a day with friends we haven’t seen in a while. Admire the beauty of nature
Living in New York City is incredible. The skyline, the abundance of museums and restaurants–we truly have it all. But it’s important that we make time for getting outdoors and enjoying nature too. The Bronx Zoo is a perfect escape for anyone looking to connect with nature- and see beautiful animals to boot! Walk through 265 acres of hardwood forest, enjoy the sight of wooded paths ponds, taking in the lush, vibrant green life. Walk through the African Plains to see giraffes, ostriches, lions, zebras, spotted hyena, African wild dogs and more. Or opt for a more relaxing time in nature thanks to the Wild Asia Monorail where you can travel through the heart of the Asian wilderness- along pastures, forests and riverbanks. Your tour guide will help you spot animals along the way including elephants, antelope, rhinos and tigers.
Spend time with family and friends
The zoo is always a great place to meet up with family and friends- especially as many of us still feel safer outdoors and socially distanced. And with 9,000 animals, spanning over 700 species from all around the world- there’s certainly enough to see and enjoy during your time together. And you’ll find yourself wanting to return for another meetup since you never know who or what you might encounter – each visit is unique and animal encounters are pleasantly unpredictable! And of course- you can always keep an eye out for everyone’s favorite animals from Animal Planet’s THE ZOO.
Play dates at Nature Trek
Having a membership at the Bronx Zoo makes it much easier when you don’t have time to enjoy a full day. We love being able to stop by and let the little ones enjoy Nature Trek for an hour or two. The kids are able to let some energy out while they enjoy a giraffe’s-eye view of the zoo while exploring this adorable village in the trees. Relive your childhood with your little ones as you cross wavy bridges, crawl through elevated tunnels, and balance on wiggly surfaces.
Treetop Adventure
For families with older kids or adults looking for something a little different at your next Bronx Zoo visit, consider partaking in Treetop Adventure. Thrill seekers can zipline across the Bronx River and climb through canopies above the zoo. We’re sure it will be a zoo visit none of you will forget. Visit the Butterfly Garden, the Children’s Zoo & Bug Carousel
You can’t think of the Bronx Zoo without thinking of the infamous Bug Carousel and Butterfly Garden. And no kid can walk past the Children’s Zoo without asking to stop in! No matter how many times you visit, a ride on their favorite insect just doesn’t get old!

While the city has steadily opened back up and returned to a bit more normalcy, the Bronx Zoo continues to prioritize guest health and safety to ensure visitors have an optimal experience. This means:
