Last Chance to Canoe Down the Bronx River for this Year’s Amazing Bronx River Flotilla

This is the last chance to participate in the Amazing Bronx River Flotilla- a 5-mile paddle down the Bronx River and raise funds for the Bronx River! Taking place on Saturday, May 15th, this annual fundraiser helps keep canoeing accessible to 1,000 Bronx youth and families.

How does it work? A designated captain will take the lead in forming a team of 6 people (in 3 canoes) to paddle down the Bronx River. Each individual will commit to fundraising a total of $350 per person or $2,100 per team.

Paddlers need to register and cover a registration fee of $50 which is tax-deductible and applies towards fundraising goal.

The Alliance will support you in reaching your fundraising goal by providing you with your very own online fundraising webpage to spread the word to family, friends and social networks.

Individuals spots area also available, please contact Thomas Capozzi to help you find a team.

On Saturday, May 15 (Rain date: TBD), you’ll get a chance to paddle through the NY Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, and get a close look at the fish ladder at the 182nd St. dam! Though there will be on-site support, please be ready to carry or wheel your canoe with your partner at these portage sites.

The paddle ends at Starlight Park with a COVID-safe gathering at River House.
The Bronx River Alliance will provide you with all the necessary canoe equipment: a canoe, paddles, and life vests for your team. To sign up for this event you must be 18 years of age and feel confident canoeing in rivers. All participants will receive a t-shirt and a goody bag. There will be fun prizes for the top fundraising teams and individuals.

Spots are limited for the 5-mile paddle, so form your team, come up with an exciting team name and designated captain, and start raising funds to help make canoeing on the river open and accessible for thousands of New Yorkers to enjoy!
