40 Ways to Celebrate Christmas in the Bronx

It’s that time of year again! Tree lightings, Santa sightings, and plenty of holiday events to go around. We’ve gathered a list of places to visit and things to do this holiday season in the Bronx. Of course, we’ll be adding a lot more to our calendar– so you can count on even more holiday fun in the Bronx!

  1. After a 10 year hiatus, the Holiday Lights Bronx Zoo are back! Which means it’s a must-do this holiday season.
  2. Head to Holiday Family Day on December 7th with Santa at Bartow Pell Mansion
  3. On December 14th, watch Santa arrive by boat, then enjoy lunch together at Ice House Cafe
  4. Kick off the holiday season with Winter Wonderland at Bronx Terminal Market on November 19th
  5. Celebrate Saint Nicholas at Van Cortlandt House Museum with a special eye-spy tour of the house, craft projects, games, and hot chocolate around the campfire on December 14th
  6. Hop on the free Morris Park Joyful Trolley Ride on December 23rd
  7. Take photos with Santa at the Mall at Bay Plaza
  8. Enjoy decorating holiday cookies and crafts at Bartow Pell Mansion Museum on December 22nd
  9. Who says the train show is only for kids!? Take a night off and enjoy Bar Car Nights at the New York Botanical Garden
  10. Paint with Santa with one of Confetti Paints events
  11. Bring your 3-5 year old for Teddy Bear Tea at Bartow Pell Mansion Museum on December 19th
  12. Enjoy a local tree Lighting celebration near you- like the Mall at Bay Plaza
  13. They haven’t posted info yet, but we hope that Bronx Bikes will continue their annual Santa bike ride so that onlookers can catch a glimpse of a bunch of Santas riding by
  14. Check out the Bronx Museum’s Winter Wonderland Family Art Project on December 7th-there will be festive art activities for the whole family
  15. Stop by to see the infamous Bronx Christmas House– they usually update their Facebook page when the decor is up!
  16. Head to NYBG for their annual Holiday Train Show 
  17. Take a holiday workshop at Wave Hill
  18. Make gingerbread houses at the Belmont Library for their Holiday Cheer event
  19. Enjoy a candlelight tour of Bartow Pell Mansion on December 14th- along with holiday snacks in the conservatory.
  20. Enjoy Breakfast with Santa at the Bronx YMCA on December 14th
  21. See The Nutcracker at Lehman Stages on December 1st
  22. Check out a holiday flea market at the Brady Court Community Center
  23. Watch A Christmas Carol on December 4th at Soundview Library
  24. Enjoy a free holiday party on December 8th with the option to purchase holiday photos at La Escuelita de Sofia
  25. Leave the kids at home and enjoy the 5th Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater & Coquito Party at Confetti Party Place on December 6th
  26. Take free holiday portraits at The Bronx Documentary Center on December 22nd from 2-4pm
  27. Hit up the Holiday Food & Craft Fair hosted by the Northeast Bronx Farmers Market Project on December 7th
  28. Enjoy caroling- Puerto Rican style- with the Bronx Music Heritage Center’s annual Holiday Parranda on December 21st
  29. Take holiday photos in front of the Van Cortlandt House Museum
  30. Design holiday themed buttons at the Belmont Library on December 5th
  31. Shake a leg at the Bronx YMCA’s Christmas Masquerade Party on December 7th
  32. Shop local on December 7th at the Holiday Pop Up Market at the Port Morris Distillery

  34. Celebrate Frozen 2 at Clason Point Library on December 7th
  35. Enjoy History of the Holidays tours at Van Cortlandt House Museum
  36. On December 14th, enjoy a Winter Wonderland at Williamsbridge Oval Recreation Center
  37. Partake in a Winter Solstice Hike at Van Cortlandt Park on December 21st
