Hip Hop, The Bronx, & a Window at Macy’s Herald Square

If you’re walking by Macy’s on 34th street, look up and you might notice something a bit different than their usual window displays- a window dedicated to a Bronx public school and hip hop. An ode to the old school, the window display features a classroom setting with hip hop flare- and a dedication to CS 55 Principal Luis Torres and the non-profit organization Windows of Hip Hop. The window is all thanks to the watch maker Bulova, who decided to dedicate their commercial opportunity at Macy’s to their partnership with both CS 55 and Windows of Hip Hop. The window features a chalkboard with Principal Torres’ infamous bitmoji and a blurb about the partnership between these three entities.

The partnership came to be when Windows of Hip Hop and CS 55 joined forces to bring the first ever recording studio to a New York public school. That’s when Bulova jumped in and offered to help make it happen. Things kicked off over the summer with children’s programming, and will continue on to the construction phase of the studio.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, Bulova, Macy’s, and Windows of Hip Hop are hosting a fun event for kids of all ages at the Mall at Bay Plaza on Saturday, September 21st, 2019. Families can come out and enjoy a day of art, music, and more!
