Registration is now open for CityParks Learn fall environmental education programs offered by City Parks Foundation for 2nd-8th grade students and teachers. The fall programs – Green Girls, Seeds to Trees, Learning Gardens, Coastal Classroom and Experiential Learning (teaching training program) are offered in local neighborhood parks and recreation/education centers throughout the five boroughs.
GREEN GIRLS
6TH—8TH GRADES
PROGRAM DATES: September 23 – December 21
PROGRAM TIMES: 3:00 – 5:30pm
Green Girls is a year-round after school and summer intensive STEM-based program that gives middle school girls opportunities to explore New York City’s natural ecosystems while interacting with professionals in environmental science and other related fields. Through hands-on activities, experiments, and environmental restoration, the Green Girls gain a sense of responsibility, learn about future careers, and discover how they can create positive change in their city.

CITYPARKS LEARN SEEDS TO TREES
2ND—6TH GRADES
Seeds to Trees provides outdoor field experiences and hands-on experiential activities for elementary and middle school youth. Students are introduced to science and nature in fun and engaging ways during school hours, whether through learning about water conservation, pollution prevention, or ways to protect wildlife. The program partners with NYC public schools, aligns with New York State standards, and helps increase students’ success in learning science.

CITYPARKS LEARN LEARNING GARDENS
2ND—8TH GRADES
Learning Gardens fosters a love of science and nature among youth who are living in some of New York City’s most densely populated neighborhoods. In the City Parks Foundation Learning Gardens, elementary and middle school youth learn community gardening through fun, hands-on lessons. During school hours and with summer groups, students learn how to grow food, recognize biodiversity in our urban environment, and more.
