While indoor water parks are great, we’re all about outdoor water park fun in the summer! Being in the Bronx affords us the ability to easily travel north, west, or out east for some water park fun. One annual summer outing we cross off our bucket list each year is Splish Splash in Long Island. It’s fun for the whole family, and the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day.
The layout of Splish Splash makes it easy for groups with different age ranges to have fun. There are plenty of areas for an adult to stay with the smaller kids while the older children enjoy the slides nearby. When we first arrive, we usually spend some time at Kiddie Cove so the little ones can enjoy the smaller slides, and the adults can sit in the pool area below to cool off.
Meanwhile, right outside of Kiddie Cove is Dinosaur Falls. This is a great place to start while the rest of the group hangs at Kiddie Cove.
Next up, head to Kahuna Bay for some wave pool fun. We love the wave pool when traveling with a group because all ages can enjoy it. There are also some slides nearby that the thrill seekers can ride while others stay in the waves.
When it comes to lunch- no outside food or drink is allowed. So visitors can either pack a cooler and head to the car for lunch, or eat from the many food options inside the park. We opted for Johnny Rockets, located near Kahuna Bay this time around.
