With NYC starting to feel like Seattle lately, we’re sure you’ve started adding some indoor options to your summer bucket list. While we recommend library events and other free options as a go-to on rainy days, Trolls the Experience is a must for those of you with Trolls obsessed little ones like mine. If you haven’t already gone, check out a recap of what to expect when you visit.
For our visit, we were given the VIP experience which includes full face makeup and a trolls wig to take home. This add on is around $50 extra, so it can really add up for someone with multiple children. But if you can swing it, nothing will beat the joy in your little Troll’s eyes once they look in the mirror after their makeover! But the kids at the Hair We Go salon and barbershop with the wig hats and painted noses looked just as excited to get the party started- so it is totally up to you!
Once the makeover was complete, we were ready to start our journey. During the experience, you’ll visit three different stations where kids will collect stickers for their scrapbook at the end: Branch’s Musical Mash up, Caterbus, and Critter Creek.
You’ll be grouped with a few other families and visit each station together, ultimately leading up to Poppy’s Best Day Ever celebration, where the Trolls come to life in 3D.
Once the party is over, you’ll head to the After Party to snap a pic in the photo booth and add the stickers and photo you took to colorful scrapbook pages.
Next, you’ll have a photo opp with Poppy herself before heading out into the gift shop and cafe’ area.
We stopped to enjoy a slushie before heading out in the cool Cupcakes and Rainbows Retail Shop & Cafe. As we left, I was told over and over that it was the best day ever!
Overall, Trolls the Experience was a blast for the kids. From an adult perspective, it’s short, pretty pricey, and the stations felt like they could have had more to them. But none of that mattered to my little one- and that’s what really counts.
Bronxmama Tips
- The adult ticket is same price as kids, so leave the grandparents at home
- If you do go on a nice day, offset the cost by packing a lunch and enjoying a picnic in Central Park before your visit. It’s just a five minute walk away from the venue.
- The VIP experience includes full face makeup. So if your little one has sensitive skin or will just want to wash it off immediately, opt for the general admission and treat them to a Troll wig from the gift shop

We also wanted to take a moment to share a wonderful give back to some children from the Bronx by Trolls the Experience! Kindergarten students and teachers from Mott Haven Academy Charter School celebrated another successful school year with a visit to DreamWorks Trolls The Experience in New York City to meet Queen Poppy. The students were treated to their very own VIP experience, complete with Troll makeovers, to celebrate their 93% math assessments passing rate. Yet another reason to pay a visit to this fun experience!
