When it comes to dining outdoors, good views can come at a price. Unless you think outside of the box. So order a cute picnic basket and check out our favorite places in the Bronx to enjoy an impromptu picnic- just don’t forget the bubbly!
Ferry Point Park
This is one of my favorite places to bring my hammock, our grill, and enjoy dinner on the water. With a view of the East River, the Whitestone Bridge, and the planes taking off and landing at Laguardia- it’s the perfect place to enjoy with family. There’s also plenty of space to ride scooters or bikes, and a parking lot right across the road.

Orchard Beach
Okay, so this one is a given- but you can’t leave the beach out! Sneak out for lunch during the week- especially before the hot summer days- and you might just have a stretch of sand all to yourself. Want to impress the wife? Grab a tray table, two folding chairs, some seafood from City Island, and enjoy a waterfront dinner with your toes in the sand.
Soundview Park
With plenty of bike trails inside this 205 acre park, there are also lots of little spots to stop and enjoy a waterfront picnic along the way. Situated on Clason Point, this is where the Bronx River flows into the East River.
Bronx River, Bronx River Ave. bet. Lafayette Ave., Surf Dr.
Pelham Bay Park
You’ll find plenty of grilling going on in Pelham Bay Park, but sometimes a picnic is where it’s at. For my oldest’s 11th birthday, we hung up a cute canopy and put down a cute picnic blanket with some boho style pillows. We then gave each girl a cute flower headband and let the girl talk commence.
Watt Avenue &, Middletown Rd
Baretto Point Park
Throw down a picnic blanket and enjoy views of the Manhattan skyline and the East River. When it gets too hot, walk over to the Floating Pool Lady and enjoy a swim during the pool season.
Viele Ave, The Bronx
That’s just a few of our favorite places to create our own magical escape in the big city. What are some of your favorite outdoor places to enjoy picnics or time outdoors? Share in the comments below!

I do one picnic every summer at the Botanical Garden but I would love to do more. Thanks for these ideas!

Depends on where you’re coming from- but Pelham Bay Park is accessible via the 6 train- the others have buses that run to them.
