Raise your hand if you’ve got a dino-obsessed little one! We’re sure by now you’ve seen that the Bronx Zoo has added some prehistoric creatures to their lineup- along with the biggest, most realistic dinosaur safari ride in America! Whether you’ve already been to check it out or not, we’ve got the scoop on everything you need to know about the fun happening at the Bronx Zoo during the Dinosaur Safari Run- including some awesome perks for members.

Quick Facts:

• Dinosaur Safari runs from to April 19th to November 3rd
• The Dinosaur Safari Ride is included in Total Experience Tickets (or Conservation Level or above membership) or can be purchased for $6 per person. Discounted Dinosaur Safari Ride tickets are valid for WCS Members only.
• Spanning over two acres, the Safari features over 40 animatronic creatures
• The ride is narrated by a knowledgeable Dinosaur Safari Field guide- who shares information on each dinosaur you see, and makes a connection between the physical and behavioral adaptations between both dinosaurs and modern-day animals

Member’s Perks

If you don’t already have a Zoo Membership- we totally recommend looking into it. It pays for itself after just one visit, and includes access to the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Queens Zoo, and Prospect Park Zoo for 3 adults and up to 4 children for one year. Not to mention discounts and fun member benefits- including early morning access to Walk with Dinosaurs on weekend mornings through August.

Safari Ride tickets are also discounted for lower tier Membership levels- so be sure to utilize those perks.

Also- one of our favorite parts about living in the Bronx with a zoo membership are those rainy day visits! The zoo can get pretty packed during the warmer months, so if you live nearby take advantage and visit on those days that call for rain. The zoo is less crowded, there are plenty of indoor exhibits and places to stay dry, and it’s not a big deal if you don’t stay too long. The zoo is our backyard- and we love to utilize it!

June Fun

While the zoo never gets old, there are still some fun new events planned for each month of the exhibit. For June, visitors can head to Grizzly Corner for Dinosaurs Rock^®! Check out life-size dino fossils and watch the Fossil Adventure Show with dinosaur expert Neil Brown.

International Dinosaur Day

June 1st and 2nd will be the biggest celebration of all for the zoo’s International Dinosaur Day celebration. Visitors can look forward to:

Become Your Inner Dinosaur: Take a quiz to find out which dino you are! Then have a chance to dress up like it!  All weekend

Dinosaur Mask Making: Create your own mask to wear in the dinosaur parade! 11am-3pm  All Weekend

Dinosaurs Parade: Wear your best dino gear and join in on the parade! 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm  All Weekend

Amazing Adaptations: The Dinosaur Adventure: Wildlife Theater presents the story of two heroes, Cope and Marsh, as they find out the truth about animal adaptations. June 1:  11am & 3pm.  June 2:  11am, 12:30pm, 2pm & 3pm

July Fun

In July, head to Astor Court for the zoo’s infamous Birds in Flight show. Birds are modern dinosaurs, so be sure to catch these awesome shows that include up close encounters with macaws, vultures, and owls.

August Fun

In August, both dino and lego lovers are in for a real treat with Legoland^® Dinosaur Week. LEGOLAND^® Discovery Center Westchester’s Master Model Builder will be on hand with some fun dinosaur and LEGO^® mosaic build activities.
