Holiday Fun Downtown: Winter ONEderland at One World Trade & A Visit To Brookfield Place

Have you had a chance to make it to the top of NYC at the One World Trade Observatory yet? If you haven’t, make a day of it by checking off fun from both your holiday and bucket list. We recently headed downtown to check out the Winter ONEderland installation and then across the street to Brookfield Place for exactly that!

Now until January 7th, visitors to the One World Trade Observatory will notice some winter themed additions to their visit-like this giant snow globe. Kid’s can grab their passports before heading to the elevator- where the usual visuals on the ride up now include snowfall. There’s also photos with Santa available for a unique photo opp.

Of course, the most spectacular part is the view from 102 stories above. No matter how long you’ve lived in NYC, there’s nothing like seeing it from above.

After working up an appetite, head across the street to Brookfield Place for a bite to eat. Decorated beautifully with Christmas trees and sparkling lights galore, it’s a budget friendly way to continue the day’s fun. Grab something in the food court and scope out a seat near the windows for a cheap waterfront view.

Be sure to stop in the Winter Garden to check out the annual Luminaries exhibition and maybe even catch a performance. There’s also an ice skating rink with 90 minute sessions throughout the day ($15 per session plus $5 skate rental) where you’ll enjoy views of the Statue of Liberty and Hudson River.

There’s nothing like NYC during the holidays, so why not see it from above? For more information on Winter ONEderland, visit www.oneworldobservatory.com. If you’re up for the walk- make the adventure even more fun by jumping on the Soundview Ferry from the Bronx to Pier 11/Wall Street and walk around 15 minutes to the Observatory.
