Blue Moon Cafe in Bronxville Introduces New Menu

Just a short ride from the Bronx on Pondfield Road in Bronxville sits Blue Moon Cafe, a family friendly Mexican cafe’ and bar.  Opened in 2003, the Bronxville location is just one of four owned by founder Howie Felixbrod, who opened the first Blue Moon Cafe 30 years ago in Englewood New Jersey. And while his restaurants have produced both loyal patrons and delicious recipes over the years, Howie recently decided to work with both guests and staff to launch a new menu that would encompass both the classics and some some exciting new additions. We recently had the chance to stop in to see the place for ourselves and learn more about the new menu offerings.

First up on the new menu is a Tender Carne Arrachera, a grilled marinated skirt steak topped with roasted jalapenos. There is also the Texas Moon, a giant burrito stuffed with barbecued Ancho Brisket, Mexican Rice, Refried Beans and melted cheese. And pictured above are the Tacos De Golfo – white corn tortillas stuffed with Grilled Shrimp, Grilled Pineapple and a chimichurri sauce. My lunch date Melissa opted for the tacos while I couldn’t resist the ancho brisket enchiladas- everything hit the spot.

Of course, a nice refreshing Margarita is always a nice addition to any good meal.  We opted for a flavored version of the classic- but Blue Moon’s Bar Menu offers a fun selection of specialty drinks like The Blue Moonarita and Slim Sunset.

We didn’t really have room for dessert, but we managed to get in a few bites of Blue Moon’s Cheesecake Chimichangas- cheesecake wrapped in a flour tortilla, lightly fried and rolled in cinnamon sugar. So good!

Overall we really enjoyed our lunch at Blue Moon Cafe. Living in the Bronx, there is no shortage of amazing Mexican food- but the combination of food, drinks, and friendly environment made for a perfect lunch ‘escape’. We love that Blue Moon gets involved with families and the community by offering Family Nights, School Fundraisers, Ladies Night, and more. There’s even an annual Halloween Costume contest with some great prizes- check it out if you haven’t made dinner plans yet!
