It may not feel like it, but Memorial Day Weekend is upon us. If you don’t already have plans out of town or just lounging at the beach, here’s a list of some of our top picks for what’s happening in the Bronx this weekend.
Boogie Down at the Bronx Zoo
There’s only two weekends left to check out Boogie Down at the Bronx Zoo- so a three day weekend is the perfect chance to stop in. There will be music, break dancing, street art, salsa, bomba, and more. Runs daily from 11-4pm with special performances daily. www.bronxzoo.com/boogie-down
10th Annual BomBarBecue
While they’ll also be making an appearance each day this weekend at Boogie Down at the Bronx Zoo, you can also grab a blanket or foldable chair and head to the Andrew Freedman Home lawn for BombaYo!’s 10th annual BomBarBecue on Saturday. There will be live music and food- with a Bomba dance class and ceremony. Learn more.
Bronx Mother’s Day Garden Party
Rescheduled from Mother’s Day weekend, join Bronx Moms and Wonderfully Made on Saturday for a fun celebration. There will be a sing along for children, performances by singers, poets and artists. Follow along on the Facebook Invite for up to date information.
Bronx River Flotilla
The rain may have pushed back the annual Bronx River Flotilla, but the fun continues. Head to Hunts Point Riverside Park for free community rowing on the Bronx River, a visit to the Bronx Children’s Museum’s Waters on the Go traveling bus exhibit, NYC Parks Play Mobile, and more. www.bronxriver.org/flotilla
City Island Memorial Day Parade
On Monday, enjoy watching the Memorial Day Parade on City Island and honor those who have died while serving our country’s armed forces. Learn more
