ShopRite Opens Hiring Center for First Bronx Location

ShopRite announced it will officially mark the start of construction on its newest full-service state-of-the-art supermarket – and first Bronx location – located at 1994 Bruckner Boulevard, on Tuesday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. Local leaders joined the ShopRite team in a ceremony to mark the opening of the ShopRite of Bruckner Boulevard’s hiring center, which is located at 1998 Bruckner Boulevard, in the same shopping center as the planned ShopRite. The supermarket plans to hire approximately 250 employees for full- and part-time positions ahead of its opening this summer.

Owned and operated by Village Super Market, Inc., which operates 29 ShopRite stores throughout New Jersey, Maryland and Pennsylvania, the new store will offer a wide selection of groceries including both store andnational brands, fresh produce, an extensive meat department staffed by full time butchers, a prepared foods department, locally sourced foods, and a health and wellness department with a registered dietitian.

Village Super Market, Inc. and the Sumas family, which will operate the ShopRite of Bruckner Boulevard, is committed to serving the local community. ShopRite conducted an informational survey asking local residents for input on what they would like in their neighborhood supermarket, and feedback from that survey has played an important role in the overall design of the new store.

“Residents told us what they wanted, and we will try to provide that shopping experience. We are excited to bring our first full-service ShopRite to the Bronx with the opening of our Bruckner Boulevard store,” said Perry Blatt, third generation operator and Director of Marketing and Business Development. “The response and feedback from local residents has been very positive, and we are looking forward to becoming a part of the community, beginning with the process of finding new team members to welcome into our ShopRite family.”

ShopRite of Bruckner Boulevard’s hiring center will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.Interested candidates can visit the hiring center to fill out an application, or apply online by visiting http://www.shoprite.com/career-opportunities, clicking “apply today” and selecting Bronx, NY from the dropdown menu to view available positions. The store is currently hiring for all positions including department managers, butchers, deli, bakery, dairy, produce and seafood team members, customer service associates, cashiers, baggers and more. Village Super Market, Inc. is also working closely with the New York City Department of Small Business Services’ Workforce1 Career Centers, which will provide assistance with recruiting, screening, and interviews.

With an emphasis on reducing its eco-footprint, the new store will also feature energy-efficient refrigeration and lighting, including glass doors on all dairy and freezer cases and LED lighting throughout the store and its parking lot.
