A Few of Our Favorite Things About the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Limited

Well hello there. The 2018 Hyundai Sonata has reintroduced itself and we are liking what we see. After spending time with the Sonata over the years, I think that the 2018 model is my favorite one yet. Here are some of my favorite features:

It’s Spacious

The Sonata has more total interior volume than any vehicle in its class- Hyundaiusa.com

When taking weekend trips, I like to have a cooler in the back for the kids to grab snacks or water. Even with my seat all the way forward to fit a cooler on the floor behind my seat, I still had room for two bags by my feet. And the trunk space is awesome- my over-packing skills had nothing on the size of the trunk (16.3 cubic feet!).

When we used to have a sedan, my husband would complain that his back hurt after long trips. This wasn’t the case with the Sonata thanks to its sport seats- he had no complaints after our 2.5 hour drive to the Poconos. And the kids had plenty of room in the backseat.

Great Standard Features

Among the list of standard features in the Sonata, there’s the blind-spot detection, lane change assist, back up camera, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

But Great Package Options

Some of the awesome features that do not come standard are the heated and ventilated seats and the 8-inch touchscreen navigation system (standard is the 7-inch display). Drivers can also add on a heated steering wheel, rearside window sunshades, automatic high beam assist, and rear parking sensors.

Safety Features

Planning a trip in the winter can be challenging. You never know when snow or icy roads might be an issue- especially traveling to the mountains. But the Sonata handled well during our latest trip to the Poconos.

With Lane Change Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with Pedestrian Detection, and Smart Cruise Control- the Sonata makes both driver and passengers feel as safe as possible. Whether it’s a deer in the mountains or a jaywalker on a busy Bronx street, it’s like having a second set of eyes at all times no matter where you’re driving.

And with today’s unpredictable winter weather, there’s also the Icy Road Warning that lets drivers know when temps are low enough that icy conditions might be an issue.

It’s Comfortable For Everyone

For those sharing a car like many folks in the city, the Integrated Memory System for the driver seat and side mirrors makes life a bit easier. With the press of a button your seat and mirrors are back to where you left them.

Aside from being spacious, the Sonata also keeps those backseat passengers in mind. With available front and second row USB charging, road trips with kids are a breeze. So while we were sad to leave our awesome winter getaway, at least the ride home was enjoyable.

It’s Full of Surprises

Umm, wireless charging!? With this available feature, simply place your phone on the center console and charge you or your passenger’s phone. And when it comes to gas, at 25 / 36 / 29 city/highway/combined- we were loving it! Our round-trip to the Poconos only used around a half of tank of gas, which can make a world of difference for families planning out weekend travel ideas.

Overall, we really enjoyed our time with the Sonata. Even though as a family of four we tend to lean more towards crossovers and SUVs, it really does offer a bang for your buck and the most space possible in a sedan. For more information on the 2018 Hyundai Sonata, visit www.hyundaiusa.com.
