If you’re looking for a waterpark day trip to take the family, head East to Long Island’s Splish Splash for a day of slides, wave pools, and more summer fun. Around 2 hours from the Bronx, Splish Splash is a 96 acre waterpark in Calverton. The park features 20 waterslides and rides, 2 large wave pools, some awesome kid areas, a lazy river, and more.
Depending on the ages of your group, it’s a good idea to check out the map online to get a game plan for the day. There are plenty of places to hang together as well as split up when the older kids want to go on the slides. Traveling with a 5 and 11 year old, we started our day at the Surf City Wave Pool. Once we were cooled off, my oldest Briana and I headed to Dinosaur Falls while the little one and daddy hung out at Pirates Cove.
After that, we headed over to the second wave pool, Kahuna Bay before Briana and I walked to nearby Tunnel of Terror. Having two wave pools spaced apart is perfect so that families have somewhere to hang while part of the group is doing a nearby ride.
Afterwards, we met back up and headed over to Mutiny Bay- a fun boat ride where passengers and passerby can shoot each other with water.
We ended our day hanging out for a few hours in Kiddie Cove. With three different slides leading into a shallow pool, this is the perfect place for parents to relax in the water as the kids run back to the slides over and over. Perfect spot to end the day!
Planning Your Visit
Outside food and beverages (aside from sealed bottled waters) are not permitted into the park. There are plenty of food options available inside, or guests can utilize the picnic areas outside of the park. We arrived around noon and ate lunch before entering.
Parking is $15 per vehicle, and a shuttle option is available. The walk is not too bad- so we opted against the shuttle.
Lockers start at $14 and are on a first come, first served basis. We brought in a water resistant bag to house our towels and water bottles, along with our belongings. Since we weren’t all on a ride at once at any point, this worked fine for us.
