As swim season approaches, the YMCA encourages children and parents in New York City to have their Best Summer Ever by exploring the many benefits of swimming, while also keeping safety top of mind. In the Y’s swim programs, participants can enjoy water sports, enhance or learn new techniques, meet new friends and develop confidence, while also learning safety skills that can save lives.

As part of National Water Safety Month in April, the YMCA of Greater New York encourages parents to take an active role in fostering a relationship between their children and swimming—beginning with water safety.

During the week of April 10-14 (NYC’s spring break) the New York City’s YMCA branches around the city will be offering free swim lessons to help spread awareness and emphasize the importance of learning how to swim, and how valuable the skill is.

The Bronx YMCA location registration just opened today and the schedule can be seen here. Those interested must visit in person to register anytime during YMCA hours.
