We’re less than a week away from Thanksgiving! That means holiday guests will soon be arriving- or you’ll be the one they are awaiting! So, we’ve put together a great list of must haves- which make for both great hosting ideas and gifts for the hostess.
Ninja Coffee Bar System
Coffee and overnight guests go hand in hand. We love the Ninja Coffee Bar for a coffee house experience at home. Their latest model has new cup size options, a built in frother, and their new Cafe Forte brewing technology.
Tip: Create a space for guests to easily access coffee, tea, and sugar- and hang coffee mugs nearby or in the cabinet above.
Blackout Curtains
Whether your guests will be staying in a guest room or on a pull out couch, blackout curtains are a great way to give them a comfortable night’s sleep. We love these Eclipse Thermalayer Deron curtains in the marble color, available at Target.
Tip: Keep a basket or drawer nearby to store extra blankets and sheets for guests to easily grab.
Bamboo Pillows
Guests often end up with the extra pillows from your own stash. Instead, get a pair of these bamboo pillows from Relax Home Life and they will be sleeping comfortably. We’re loving both the poly fill and shredded memory foam options- perfect for guests who have different preferences when it comes to firmness.
Sharing is Caring: We’re sharing a special 15% discount on both the poly fill and memory foam options. Use the links below to purchase:
Save 15% on the Bamboo Pillow with Shredded Down Alternative
Save 15% on the Medium Firm Bamboo Pillow with Shredded Memory Foam
Tip: Keep a scented dryer sheet inside the pillow cases while stored. When it’s time to put them on when guests arrive, they will smell like they are fresh out of the laundry.
Shark® Rocket® Vacuum
Have your floors looking like you pay for cleaning services with the The Shark® Rocket® Complete with DuoClean™ Technology. This vacuum tackles both carpet and hard floors- so no need to use three different appliances to get the job done. The Shark’s Triple Particle Cleaning™ technology takes care of all three types of dirt- small, large, and stuck-on. We were huge fans of the previous Rocket, but with the new soft brushroll in the front of the latest model- we’re in love!
Tip: Keep a basket of slippers inside your entry way to encourage guests to remove their shoes and get comfortable.
Hotel Collection Ultimate Micro Cotton Towels
If a towel closet is non existent in your tiny NYC apartment, you can still invest in a nice towel set to leave out when guest’s arrive. This MicroCotton® set, available exclusively at Macy’s includes a bath towel, hand towel, washcloth, bath sheet, and tub mat.
Tip: A gray color is perfect to keep the towels looking brand new and matches any color schemes you might change your bathroom to.
Salami from Olympia Provisions
You can never go wrong with a charcuterie board loaded with salami and cheese- and of course a stocked bar cart of red and white wines. We really like the gift set options available from Olympia Provisions- there’s even a Salami of the Month club which makes for a great hostess gift.
Tip: Pick out a nice serving tray to have on hand for guests. Right before they arrive, arrange your charcuterie board, wine glasses, and a newly opened bottle on the tray for them to indulge in while settling in. This way it can be relocated to whichever room of your home they decide to get comfortable in first.
Wellness Mat Signature Collection
Since you’ll most likely be spending a lot of time in the kitchen this holiday season, why not pick out a kitchen mat that is not only customized, but also boosts energy, increases circulation, and eliminates foot fatigue. Yes, we’re serious. These mats are ergonomically engineered to provide unsurpassed comfort, safety, relief, and support while you stand, wherever you stand- and there’s a 20 year warranty. No more replacing curled or soiled kitchen mats, and of course this makes an awesome hostess gift for your favorite home cook.
Tip: Keep kitchen counters as simple and clean as possible- utilize cabinet and wall space to store everyday items at an easy reach. It will make the room feel larger and more inviting.
Silicone Baking Pans
Forget running to the local coffee shop each morning- with the Ninja Coffee Bar and some good silicone baking pans, your guests will be impressed with your hosting skills. We picked up these awesome Crofton silicone baking pans from Aldi for a just a few bucks. No more stuck muffins or cupcakes and they are the easiest ever to clean.
Tip: Keep a few boxes of muffin mix on hand to bake before company arrives. We love the blueberry muffin mix from Aldi, which comes with a can of blueberries to add to the mix.
Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl DUO
For guests who might prefer morning smoothies over a cup of joe, we love having the Nutri Ninja Nutri Bowl Duo on hand. It’s perfect to leave out the cup vessel in the morning along with fruits and yogurt, and then impress guests later in the evening by using the bowl attachment to create soups, salads, burgers, desserts- you name it!
Tip: Keep bags of frozen fruit in the freezer for quick morning smoothies.
DIY Bar Cart
Use what you might have to create your own bar cart for holiday guests. For ours, we used this white storage cart from Room Essentials at Target. Using a multi-use item for the cart, you can always move it another room and use for storing other items.
Tip: If guests will be bringing smaller children, keep the wine glasses and champagne flutes in kitchen cabinets so your guests aren’t constantly trying to stop them from grabbing them.
You don’t need to live in a huge home or have multiple guest rooms to make your holiday guests feel comfortable. It’s all in the details- and keeping your space clean and organized so there aren’t messes happening in every corner. Keep clutter away from common areas, don’t use the floor for storage, and have the essentials on hand. And then, relax. Don’t be so busy hosting and cleaning up after guests that you don’t have time to actually enjoy their company.
Happy Holidays!

The Ninja Coffeemaker looks sort of retro in design… I’m very tempted to purchase it. Would look cool in my kitchen!
