Summer Must Haves: The Essentials

summer must haves bronxmama

Over the next week or so we will be sharing some of our summer must haves for moms, baby, travel, and more. First, we’re sharing some basic must haves to kick off the summer…

1. Avocado and Coconut Oil from The Vitamin Shoppe

While winter is known for making skin dry, it’s still important to hydrate skin and hair during the summer- especially with salt water and chlorine exposure. Pick up some avocado and coconut oil from The Vitamin Shoppe and use both to moisturize hair, keep feet smooth after a day in the sand, and even prevent hang nails using coconut oil.

2. Laguna Beach Towels

These towels will have you feeling like a guest at a luxury resort- because well, they were founded by a former cabana boy at a posh Laguna hotel. Save the palm trees and other designs for the kids, and get yourself a nice Cabana beach towel that will last for seasons to come.

3. Women’s Sage Flat Sandal from Payless

For summers in the city, a cute but supportive and comfortable sandal is important. Classic flip flops are great for the beach, but when walking all around the Bronx and NYC, you don’t want to get caught a train ride away from home with a broken pair of flip flops. We love these sandals from Payless for a quick and cute sandal to throw on and go.

4. Princess/Dayglo Bloom Print shoes from Native

If you’re an avid Bronxmama reader, then you know by now how much we love Native shoes. These bloom print Jerichos are perfect for simply summer outfits to add a pop of color. Natives are awesome because they are sneakers, but the material is perfect for the beach, pool, or even getting caught in the rain on a hot summer day.

5. Beach Mat with Pillow from Huntington Home at Aldi

One of our favorite parts about Aldi is the seasonal section where we’ve scored all kinds of goodies. Our latest was this great beach mat with pillow that rolls up for easy travel from Huntington Home. Throw over the back of a stroller or on your shoulder and hit the beach with kids with ease.

6. PTX Cooler Backpack from Picnic Time

For the second summer in a row, we’re featuring this life saving backpack cooler from Picnic Time. The perfect solution to summer in NYC, this backpack is fully insulated so you can pack everything in one place. There are two side pockets for drinks, a front zip pocket for phone and wallet, and a top zip for other belongings. There’s also a pouch inside on the top flap to keep other items. We like to use another small bag inside that won’t get wet and keep dry belongings inside the insulated portion as well. With two kids and a stroller, this backpack has been our go-to item for summer in the city outings.
