Residence Inn Names La La Anthony as 2016 Mom of the Year

While all of our Bronxmamas are moms of the year in our eyes, we had a chance to attend a special event hosted by Residence Inn where they honored this year’s Mom of the Year- La La Anthony. As a mother to a 9 year old son Kiyan and wife to NBA player Camelo Anthony, we were excited to share the evening with her and learn a thing or two.

Hosted in their exquisite penthouse suite of their Midtown Manhattan location; writers, reporters and photographers alike were invited to be apart of an intimate interview with mom Lala Anthony, to find out her secrets of balancing her career and motherhood on the road, a feat most of us try to juggle.

Lala’s impressive career consists of being a television and radio personality, best-selling author, actress, producer and beauty guru. Her words inspire mothers that try to do it all without sacrificing their families.

After being escorted upstairs to the penthouse we were greeted and served your choice of 2 wines while we made our way to the huge balcony\terrace overlooking the city where the bar was serving up the drink for the night, Shirley-La’s Temples- a delicious and refreshing beverage from ‘Lala’s Lists’, not your average Temple.  The food being passed around were divine mini, beef empanadas, lobster rolls, shrimp, spicy veggie tacos, flan and macarons to name a few.

Diane Mayer, VP and Global Brand Manager of Residence Inn, introduced Lala as the 2016 Residence Inn Mom of the Year and sat down with her to ask some questions.

Lala spoke about the importance of being prepared when traveling with your little ones- giving advice on being prepared with devices, food, and toys that your child likes to to keep them entertained while traveling.  Lala was candid about not being the best of cooks but from family recipes and tricks of the trade she has picked up from different sources she is unveiling “Lala’s Lists”, a list of creative ideas- from her signature drink to children’s favorites exclusive to Residence Inn.

Lala, being a devoted wife and mother, spoke briefly on the challenges of juggling a multifaceted career and being a Mom to Kiyan and Wife to Carmelo.  Being able to traveling with her family is the best way to stay tight knit.  Residence Inn of course makes that as simple as possible by its amenities, like the importance of having a kitchen in the rooms to make it easier for you to appeal to your child’s favorites that aren’t particularly on the room service menu.  She continued with some secrets on staying on track at the gym as well as some of her favorite exercises like boxing, that in her words “doesn’t feel like an exercise”.  Lala shared with us her trainer’s advice to look at her gym time like a job quoting “you wouldn’t show up to work late and you wouldn’t call out”.  Some really great advice to stay on course.

Glam Squad was in the second bedroom doing make-overs with Lala’s line of Motive Cosmetics.

Residence Inn bags were distributed along with Lala’ book “The Power Playbook” and a lip gloss from her collection.  All in all it was a great night with some great advice and beautiful atmosphere.
