While today’s birthday celebration decor can feel more like a professionally catered event than a child’s party, we sometimes like to just keep it sweet and simple. For Briana’s 10th birthday sleepover, we decided to use a dresser in her room for a fun cake table & ice cream bar. It was a huge hit with her sleepover guests and a breeze to clean up.
We purchased the birthday hats, cute polka dot bowls, faux flowers, and decorative fans on the wall from our local 99 cents store.
The cute wooden photo board and pretty plate were from the Dollar section at Target.
The paper straws and plates were left over from previous parties.
The ice cream cone bowls and toppings were from Keyfood.
The cakestand, vase for the flowers, and plastic mason jar were already items we had.
The cake, as well as pizza and popcorn- were purchased at BJ’s Wholesale Club.
When the girls arrived, we had pizza waiting for them so that they could have dinner first. We then headed outside for some bike and scooter riding and sidewalk chalk fun.
Once we came upstairs, we sang happy birthday to Briana and cut a small piece of cake for everyone. Then their favorite part came- each friend grabbed a spoon and a cone bowl and created their own ice cream masterpiece. We settled on four topping options since we got 4 bowls- but we’ve also done an ice cream bar with almost 20 toppings for a birthday when she was younger!
The sleepover was a success! The girls played loud, made a small mess, tried to stay up too late and woke up entirely too early.
Happy birthday Briana!
