Explore some of Wave Hill’s many budding trees and observe the myriad shapes and sizes of these flowery beginnings. Visit and sketch trees nearby. Then, using a wooden base, paper and a variety of natural materials, make your own free-standing, fully budding sculptural tree. Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon. SAT, APRIL 30 JUNIOR ARBORIST STATION
Kids ages five and up are invited to don tree-climbing harnesses and hardhats and ascend into the canopy of our old sugar maple tree to get a birds-eye view of Wave Hill. On hand to assist budding arborists, as well as answer questions about the big old trees at WaveHill, will be arborists from Almstead Tree, Shrub & Lawn Care, generous sponsor of this program. Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon. Arbor Week event.

SUN, MAY 1 DROP-IN ART WORKSHOP: TREE PORTRAITS WITH SGRAFFITO
Sgraffito is the Italian art of scratching through a ceramic or plaster surface to reveal a contrasting color beneath. In honor of Arbor Week, join local sgraffito artist Marie Leo to capture the sinuous lines of trunks, branches and twigs while etching a scratch board of your own. All skill levels welcome! Ages 10 and older welcome with an adult. Materials fee: $15/$10 Wave Hill Member per kit, which includes one scratch board, one tool and scratch-paper practice sheets. Registration not required. Arbor Week event.

A 28-acre public garden and cultural center overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades, Wave Hill’s mission is to celebrate the artistry and legacy of its gardens and landscape, to preserve its magnificent views, and to explore human connections to the natural world through programs in horticulture, education and the arts.

Limited onsite parking is available for $8 per vehicle. Free offsite parking is available nearby with continuous, complimentary shuttle service to and from the offsite lot and our front gate.
