Moderated by Danielle Jackson.

“A Patient’s Bill of Rights: Fighting for Community Health at Lincoln Hospital” will address the prominence of health issues in the activism of the Young Lords, and the relevance of these historical struggles to contemporary health care debates. Featuring panelists Walter Bosque, Felipe Luciano, Daniel Meyers, Carlito Rovira, and Cleo Silver, and hosted by Johanna Fernández. In conjunction with the exhibition ¡Presente! The Young Lords in New York.

ARTIST TALK: IMAGI/NATION

“Imagi/nation” will feature a panel of intergenerational artists who have worked with members of the Young Lords Organization on visual art and film projects from the 1970s to present. Hosted by ¡Presente! curator Yasmin Ramírez and featuring artists Sophia Dawson, Marcos Dimas, Yasmin Hernandez, Miguel Luciano, Juan Sánchez, and Caecilia Tripp. In conjunction with the exhibition ¡Presente! The Young Lords in New York.

1040 LOUNGE: THE BREAKBEAT POETS

Join us as we welcome contributors to the new poetry anthology The BreakBeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop— a multi-generational examination of life and poetry in the age of hip hop. The book features 78 poets, born between 1961-1999, who are creating the next and now movement(s) in American letters. Co-presented with Mosaic Literary Magazine and PEN American Center.

1040 LOUNGE: ST. LUKE’S CHAMBER ENSEMBLE SUBWAY SERIES 2015

Wednesday, September 30, 6:30pm to 9:00pm

St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble comes to The Bronx Museum of the Arts as part of its five-borough Subway Series, performing a free one-hour concert featuring music for winds and strings. Donate art supplies (colored pencils, water color sets and glue sticks) to Subway Series partner Cool Culture, a nonprofit that works with NYC’s most under-served families.
