Sunset Music: Milteri Tucker & Bombazo Dance Co.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5, 7–8PM

As cool breezes blow off the Hudson and the sun sets over the Palisades, enjoy an outdoor concert on the Great Lawn. Each Sunset Wednesday, New York City musicians capture the vibrant colors of summer in performances that feature jazz, popular music, show tunes and original songs.

This Wednesday, as part of Bronx SalsaFest,Milteri Tucker & Bombazo Dance Co. return to Wave Hill by popular demand, connecting audiences to their Caribbean African roots while demonstrating the rich cultural vibrancy of the Bronx. In addition to creating works, the company advocates for arts education through community dance and drumming workshops. Bombazo has performed at Lincoln Center Outdoors, New York international Salsa Congress, Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD) and The Bronx Museum of the Arts, among other venues. In March 2014, the Company performed at the New Orleans World Rhythms Festival in Congo Square and was part of the Univision Commercial: Herencia Puertorriquena (Puerto Rican Heritage Month) in November 2014.

Bronx SalsaFest is a month-long annual celebration of Salsa, the musical genre that has roots in the Bronx. The evening’s performance is co-produced with the Bronx Music Heritage Center, an initiative of WHEDco.

Sunset Wednesdays also include yoga and guided nature and garden walks. Visit Glyndor Gallery to view Wrath—Force of Nature and immersive installations in theSunroom Project Space. Visitors may bring a chair or sit on the lawn to enjoy the music. No blankets, please. Free with admission to the grounds. $2 additional admission beginning 4PM on Sunset Wednesdays. No guest passes or reciprocal admission accepted.
