Friday, July 3rd from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Night Owls will bring their funky, yet elegant, piano sound to the June First Friday! Music & Trolley at Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum (BPMM).
The Night Owls are an instrumental piano trio in the tradition of Vince Guaraldi, Ramsey Lewis, and Horace Silver. Their sound mixes taste, funkiness, and elegance with popular appeal. From TV theme songs to New Orleans grooves, from West Coast jazz to 70’s pop tunes, The Night Owls provide a wide range of music that will satisfy both the most discerning listeners as well as people who just want to have a great time.
The band is comprised of Lee Feldman (piano), Ben Gallina (bass) and David Berger (drums) — three of New York’s most in-demand musicians. Feldman is known for both his piano playing and songwriting. He was signed to Mercury Records and has put out four critically acclaimed albums. Gallina’s bass playing has made its way onto film, television, and radio and has brought him to the stages of Lincoln Center, Broadway, and other venues throughout the country. David Berger is a drummer from St. Louis, MO by way of New Orleans. His drumming can be heard on recent release I’m Hip by Ana Gasteyer, and the soon to be released album from Amy Helm & the Handsome Strangers, where he shared duties with the legendary drummer, Levon Helm. Berger has also recently backed American Jazz & Blues vocalists Cassandra Wilson and Catharine Russell, American soul singer William Bell, children’s music composer/performer Elizabeth Mitchell, and Steely Dan front man Donald Fagan.
Bartow-Pell’s First Friday! Music and Trolley program takes place at the museum the first Friday of every month, April through December. Visitors can enjoy the music, explore the museum, stroll the garden, and savor light refreshments. The trolley makes a continuous loop from the #6 Pelham Bay Park subway station to BPMM to City Island starting at 5:25 p.m. Registration requested at 718-885-1461 or via email at info@bpmm.org.
Cost: $10 adults, $8 seniors and students; members free.
