As the school year ends and summer approaches, we will featuring must haves when it comes to all things summer- that means travel, beach time, and just ways to have fun outdoors. This week we are featuring an idea for family travel thanks to our friends over at Nintendo.
When it comes to traveling with kids, even a 3 hour car ride can feel like a cross country trip. That’s why it’s a good idea to have a plan- for food, for drink, for comfort, and for entertainment.
For entertainment, we love this idea from Nintendo of a gaming bag for the car. While family trips are about quality time and unplugging, a long car ride is a great opportunity for kids to enjoy some gaming time.
WHAT’S INSIDE
STARTING YOUR TRAVEL BAG
First, start with a fun bag. Nintendo sent us this fun Mario bookbag, perfect to store in the car and throw over our shoulder once we arrive at our destination. The different pockets also make storing games and wires separately.
In our bag is a Nintendo 3DS gaming system, a case, a pair of headphones, a few games, a portable charger, and the adapter to charge in an outlet. We limit gaming time while at home, so a gaming bag for the car is a great way to do so.
PERFECT FOR THE TRIP AND THE DESTINATION
A great way to incorporate the traveling fun is to collect buttons or stickers from places you visit this summer with your children and let them decorate their bookbag with it. As your family travels, the bookbag will be covered with memories from all over!
Our daughter Briana also loves to use the camera on her 3DS to take photos and videos of our adventures. Most recently we visited the American Airpower Museum in Long Island and she took some fun photos of herself and her sister on the airplanes as well as a few fun videos.
THE RIGHT GAMES
Not sure which games are good for your travel bag? Check out the one’s in Briana’s:
Super Smash Bros.: Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is the first portable entry in the renowned series, in which game worlds collide. Up to four players battle each other locally or online using some of Nintendo’s most well-known and iconic characters across beautifully designed stages inspired by classic portable Nintendo games. It’s a genuine, massive Super Smash Bros. experience that’s available to play on the go, anytime, anywhere.
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire & Pokémon Omega Ruby: Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire will take players on a journey like no other as they collect, battle and trade Pokémon while trying to stop a shadowy group with plans to alter the Hoenn region forever.
Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition: Two puzzling RPG adventures await you! Rescue Princess Peach™ from Bowser™ or defeat the evil group Paradox by battling enemies with the awesome power of orbs. Drag and match orbs, or chain together combos to deal massive blows to your enemies. Then bolster your forces with hundreds of unique monsters in this two-in-one game pack.
If you have an upcoming trip and love this idea, think about surprising them on the day of the trip! Tag your photos with #BronxmamaTravel and we will see your family travel style!
