Earlier this month we spent Mother’s Day at Belmont Park for a fun day at the races thanks to America’s Best Racing. The chance to wear a cute dress and hat at the horse races has been on my to-do list for a while now, and so I was excited to be able to cross that off my list for Mother’s Day! Belmont Park is only 30 minutes over the Whitestone or Throggs Neck Bridge from the Bronx and is a great idea for some family fun nearby- especially at only $5 for admission!

unnamed (1)For our day at Belmont, we had the chance to experience the races in these great private areas right off the track. The areas are closed off with tables, grills, and plenty of room for the kids to run around. We all brought a dish to add to the food selection and enjoyed a packed cooler of waters, sodas, and beer. While this way of enjoying the races won’t be possible every time we come to the races, I do hope that we can experience it again as it was such an awesome time. To rent a half section, which includes 24 tickets is $325- so if you split the cost among 24 people, that’s only around $14 a person. Awesome, right!?

We saw many families enjoying their day while at the races- many hung out in a large area in backyard of the grandstand with lots of activities for kids-including a park, pony rides, and more. There is also an area where families can bring chairs or blankets and sit to enjoy the races. It’s a great way for children and adults to have fun at the same time.

Admission to Belmont is only $5 and the Spring/Summer meet runs until July 19th. You can visit www.nyra.com/belmont for more information.

If you’re looking for another fun idea to experience, check out Breakfast at Belmont- where children and families can have breakfast while watching Thoroughbreds train in the morning.

A great resource for becoming in tune with horse racing and all that it entails is www.americasbestracing.net!
