Registration is open for two summer intensives that allow middle school students to explore New York City’s green spaces and waterways. Both programs are free but require submitting an online application for enrollment. Space is limited.
COASTAL CLASSROOM FREE SUMMER INSTITUTE
Based at Kaiser Park, Coney Island, this five-week summer intensive offers a wide-range of hands-on opportunities and field experiences designed to explore diverse aquatic habitats throughout New York City. Learn the science and stewardship behind caring for New York’s coast, free of charge.
GREEN GIRLS FREE SUMMER INSTITUTE
The Green Girls Summer Institute engages up to 30 middle school girls, ages 11-13, in five weeks of fun-filled outdoor adventures in New York City’s parks and waterways. Regular interaction with scientists and artists unveil the diverse careers options that environmental science, conservation and media arts have to offer.
