Hop off The Bronx Trolley at the Bronx Museum and hear a reading of excerpts from the book BronxMemoir Project: Volume 1 by Bronx Writers Center Director Charlie Vázquez. The Bronx Council on the Arts (BCA) and the Bronx Writers Center released the book, an unprecedented collection of over fifty fragments of Bronx memoirs, as penned by the borough’s residents, spanning generations, continents, languages, cultures and themes.

Saturday, April 4, 12:00pm to 1:30pm

Author and photographer Arlene Alda joins us for a signing of her new book Just Kids from the Bronx. Alda will share personal anecdotes about growing up in the borough, and read excerpts and sign copies of her book. Rick Meyerowitz, Bronxite  and New Yorker cartoonist featured in Alda’s book, will be a special guest. Lunch by David Greco’s Arthur Avenue Caterers is included in the ticket purchase.

Free admission for Bronx Museum members; $10 lunch for non-members.

Friday, April 17, 6:30pm to 9:00pm


Join us for an evening of poetry inspired by the Bronx and works of art on view.  Make your voice heard in our open mic. Produced in collaboration with poet, author, and Bronx Museum Community Advisory Council member Monica S. Martinez. Performances by poets El David, Julissa Rodriguez, and Tony Watts aka Mental Sins.
