This Weekend at Wave Hill

SAT, MARCH 28    FAMILY ART PROJECT: CAMOUFLAGE THEATERS Nature’s mimicry is a wonder to behold! Discover the ways in which animals like moths, lizards, birds and coyotes copy their surroundings for the purpose of protection. Using cardboard-box dioramas, we’ll create a nature stage to serve as a secret hideaway for the critter of your choice. Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon. Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum (BPMM) welcomes Town of Pelham Historian Blake Bell to present “Bartow Neighbors: The Mansions and Estates of Pelham Bay

In the 19th century, Pelham Bay was an idyllic rural area that attracted financiers, artists, wealthy merchants, and others who sought an escape from the growing metropolis nearby. Historian Blake Bell gives an entertaining presentation on the country estates and mansions that these neighbors of the Bartows built or enhanced, detailing stories of their rise and demise using rare images and maps.
