Every Saturday at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM between March 7th and June 13th, Boro-Linc will bring together constituents from across Lincoln Center to present interactive performances, workshops and exhibitions at Casita Maria, which for more than 80 years has offered education and visual and performing arts programs to youth and families in New York City.
The opening event will take place at Casita Maria on March 7th with a workshop at 12:00 PM and a performance by JAZZ FOR YOUNG PEOPLE ON TOUR “LET FREEDOM SWING” JAZZ AND DEMOCRACY at 2:00 PM. Attendees will enjoy snacks and prizes and can join a second line parade led by Jazz at Lincoln Center.
The Lincoln Center organizations participating In Boro-Linc include: The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The Film Society of Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center Education, The Metropolitan Opera and The Metropolitan Opera Guild, New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center.
Events range in styles and age groups and include the New York Philharmonic’s Very Young People’s Concerts (ages 3-5), New York City Ballet’s movement workshops (for families with ages 4-12), films through the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s CineKids program, the Met Opera’s Live in HD presentation of The Magic Flute, and Lincoln Center Education presenting Charlotte Blake Alston’s storytelling performance Stories and Songs in the Oral Tradition.
