Bronxmama writers Charlene and Dalilah want to share two back to school essentials that made the cut last year and will once again be used for their little scholars this year. Check out their picks:
Charlene, Bronxmama to Aaron
As moms, we’re always on the lookout for products that make our day to day routine with the kids easier. My challenge last year as my son was heading to kindergarten was to find small lunch containers that were easy to open (without adult help…bye bye preschool!) and compact to fit in his lunchbox. So we headed out to different stores and tested various containers by watching to see if he could get the lids off without a struggle. I dramatically envisioned him losing his snacks and food as they fell to the lunchroom floor because the lids required too much effort (not good). So one day we stumbled across one small, lonely container completely misplaced with socks at a Marshall’s store. It was perfect! I instantly knew I would begin a crazy search for more. The brand is Sistema. They come with a “Klip it” latch opening that is super easy to open and come in so many sizes, you can pack a variety of lunch foods to fit in their lunchbox. It’s a great way to get kid- size servings of fresh fruit, pretzels, yogurt, sandwiches, and whatever your child loves in reusable containers. We have found more Sistema containers at Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Target and online. I love this brand so much that I purchased larger sizes for kitchen storage. We even designated one as the homework box filled with pencils, crayons, scissors and glue sticks and leave it by the computer desk for easy grabbing after school. We’ve used the same containers for a year now and I can honestly say I’m looking forward to packing my son’s lunches again this school year. Definitely a Bronxmama pick!- Charlene
Dalilah, Bronxmama to Dahlia
As your kids go up in grades and the bookbags become heavier, a wheeled backpack just makes sense! Dalilah loves the JWorld Wheeled Backpack for her daughter Dahlia. The roll or carry option makes it perfect for a commuting student.
