Bronx House School for Performing Arts will be offering three diverse Dance Workshops as part
of their Summer Sunday Series on Sunday, August 3rd from 1:00 to 4:00pm. New offerings of
Modern, African and Tap Dance will be introduced for students ages 6 and up. Instructors for
the classes include Davalois Fearon of the Stephen Petronio Dance Company, Kim Vasquez, a
teaching artist for Alvin Ailey and Amber Connors-Merino, currently on the faculty of the Bronx
House School for Performing Arts.
Fees are $10 per class or $15 for two classes. Registration is required by Thursday July 31st
can be done over the phone by credit card or in person.
Information will also be available about fall class offerings which begin on Monday, September
. The school offers music and dance classes for children ages 2.5 through 12; group music
classes include pre-school music appreciation and pre-instrumental classes in piano; and beginner
piano or guitar for ages 6 and up. Ongoing registration is also available for private instruction in
piano, guitar, voice, violin, drums, and other instruments. Dance classes offered include Creative
Movement, Pre-Ballet with Tap, Ballet, Hip-Hop, and Latin Dance for Kids in addition to the
Modern, African and Tap offerings.
All classes are held in a state-of-the-art 7,000 square foot wing that includes soundproof and sound
enhanced music rooms and dance studios. The School for Performing Arts faculty is comprised of
professionals who are active musicians and performers who hold advanced degrees from schools
including Juilliard, Mannes, the Manhattan School of Music, Indiana University and NYU. The
school offers scholarships to students who qualify for financial assistance as well as instruments
available for loan, free of charge.
