Food. Fashion. Events. Free. Fun. And all we were missing is our love for DESIGN.
Design Corner will feature different fun elements of design- including glimpses into different Bronx homes. To kick it off, here’s a glimpse into my own!
My Style: Vintage mixed with Modern
Budget: Flea Market and Free finds
Living in a railroad apartment can be a challenge, but also very fun to design.
Couch-Ashley Furniture, Rug-Walmart, Coffee table-Ikea
Our living room is tiny, so we had to make use of the space we have and invent storage. The cloth bins are a great way to hide junk!
TV stand, bins, and floating shelf-Ikea,
The entry way to my apartment is small, so I kept it simple with a small bench and a collage of frames
Everything pictured is flea market finds
Our place has this little nook that was meant for a washing machine and dryer, but I turned it into a eating nook. The stencil is still being done!
Table and chairs are curb alert finds, high chair is Stokke, burlap wreath is from Oriental Trading. Shelf features some fun yard sale finds.
Since we’re in a railroad, you have to walk through the girl’s bedroom. To keep up with the overall look, I decided on vintage decor for the girl as well and give each girl a side of the room. Briana’s side is complete with a collage of my favorite photos above her bed.
Vintage roller desk and rocking chair-curb alert find, Bed-Ikea, Vintage books-estate sale find
Also on Briana’s side is a victorian style bench that we use to store more clothes that don’t fit into their wardrobe
Bench-curb alert find, bunting flag banner-Etsy
Since there are no closets in the girl’s room, a wardrobe was a must.
Wardrobe-Ikea (I took the knobs off and replaced with wine corks, and added a wall decal on each top corner), crib-target, curtains are made from sheets at a local discount store, rocking horse and vintage pedal car are free finds
A work in progress, our bedroom is a mix of more great free scores and Ikea finds
Headboard-Ikea, both side tables-curb alert finds
To avoid a massive mess in the girls room that can’t be hidden, I turned the half room off of my bedroom into their playroom/my office. I made this fun line to hang our favorite family photos on which goes across to both sides.
