This past Saturday, April 26, my nephew Brandon and I had the privilege of heading over to Nintendo World at Rockefeller Center in New York City for a Nintendo 2DS Showcase Event.  The event was to give us an opportunity to play Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Mario Golf: World Tour, and Tomodachi Life before they hit the market.

Although I’m 39 years old, I’ve been a gamer since the Atari 2600 days and of course once the first Nintendo console came out, the rest was history.  Brandon and I had a lot of fun playing these exciting games together — all of which can be played on separate consoles but in multiplayer mode and offering a completely different experience from single-player modes which are equally as exciting.

First we tried Mario Golf: World Tour and just selecting the various characters from the Mario universe was entertaining!  After a few quick tips from the staff, Brandon and I were in full competition mode trying to see who would be the reigning golf champion.  Sadly, my Donkey Kong lost to his Princess Peach.  We were so engrossed in the game we didn’t even realize how much time had flown by which is definitely a good indicator of a game in my book.

We then moved over to the Kirby: Triple Deluxe area and also had a blast exploring all the new things Kirby can do.  I did a little exploring in single-player mode for a while and was very excited at how much fun it was for even a 39 year old like me!  Brandon then decided he wanted to duke it out in a multi-player setting and so we did.  This time I was able to beat him and win several rounds against him.  The fact that these games can be played in both single-player and multi-player is such a huge bonus.  It’s like you’re getting two games for the price of one.

Lastly, and the one we were dying to try out, was Tomodachi Life.  In many ways it reminded me of the Sims but it is so much more than that.  Being able to design all the characters to your liking and giving tweaking their personality levels guarantees that no two games will ever be a like.  These customizations allow for the characters you interact with to take a life on their own so you’ll never know what you’re gonna get.  And the bonus?  It’s also multiplayer so you can interact with your friends all in a virtual world as if you’re going about your daily life along with its routines.

Keep your eyes out for these appealing games coming very soon to for your Nintendo 2DS!
