DETAILS: Inspired by historical homes, including those in the Bronx, Cara Lynch’s exhibition of prints and installations is a window into the world of intricate patterns from past centuries. House Work explores Lynch’s concern and interest in feminine identity and the home, much like the domestic craft work created by 18th and 19th century housewives. Going beyond simple ornamentation, her intensely hand-worked woodcuts clearly illustrate her belief in the purification of self through meditative labor—quietly expressing frustration, instability and obsession through intricate or repeating patterns influence by historic textiles, window dressings, and wallpaper.
This exhibition is FREE and open to the public. For more information, please call 718-365-5516.
